Christmas LEGO has started arriving, and one of the most recognisable new builds is wearing a very familiar green coat.
LEGO Buddy the Elf set 40865 contains 713 pieces and costs £34.99 in the UK. LEGO recommends it for ages 12 and over.
What are you building?
The finished model recreates Buddy in his green Elf outfit. It is designed as a character build and festive display piece rather than a large playset packed with minifigures.
Why the 12+ age?
The piece count and display-led design make this a better fit for confident builders. Younger Elf fans may love the character, but parents should use LEGO’s age guidance when judging whether the build itself will be enjoyable rather than frustrating.
Could it work as a family build?
Yes. LEGO highlights the Build Together mode in its Builder app, which is designed to let several people share parts of a build. That could make this a good December project rather than something one child has to finish alone.
What should parents know?
The set is available now on LEGO’s UK store. As always with seasonal sets, availability can change, so check the current product page before planning it as a Christmas present.
