Last week, we sent our junior reporters Oscar, Henry & Jaxon to visit Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre. It’s named after Liberty, their Alaskan Bald Eagle and is located just outside Ringwood, near the New Forest National Park. Here is what they thought about Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre.
When we first arrived to Liberty’s we went straight to the Reptile room. They had such a big collection of lizards, snakes and spiders. It was so cool to see them up close and the huge snake was actually kind of scary!

Once we had finished looking at the reptiles we made our way around looking at all of the bird enclosures. The birds looked really happy. There are information boards all around the park and we learned about the various birds. There were some really cool birds like Owls, Hawks, Falcons, Vultures and Eagles! It was amazing how huge some of them are when you see them on the ground, especially the Red Kite that we are used to seeing fly above, was huge in it’s enclosure!
Mum’s favourite was the sweet little Kookaburra and we also found an owl that daddy said looked like Mr Miyagi.

Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre also has a cafe with a selection of food and drink. They had a few things available for a gluten free diet, but it would have been nice to have more of a selection. We had a hot chocolate and it was lovely with cream and marshmallows, it even came in a real mug.
We spent some time in the play area, and using the funny mirrors. The play area was clean and had lots of great equipment so it kept us busy for over an hour until we went to watch the flying displays!

Flying Display at Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre
Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile centre have daily flying displays (subject to the weather being okay for the birds to fly) and they are a wonderful thing to experience. At the flying time you go down to a field with benches and then one of the Liberty’s team brings out some of the owls and raptors and teaches you all about them. The birds then take to the skies and show you their amazing skills.
The best thing about the flying displays was that there are perches all around the seating area. This means the birds stop right near you and you can see them up close. It’s amazing to see them diving and gliding around and eating their treat at the end.

We initially thought that Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre would be a short trip of a couple of hours but we easily spent most of the day there, especially factoring in the flying displays and the play area.
Costs and Opening Hours
We paid £44 for 2 adults and 3 children, which we thought was a very good price. The best thing is knowing that our entry fee goes towards helping the birds. Liberty’s centre is involved in many breeding and conservation projects and they rescue and rehabilitate many injured, wild birds.
Finally, the gift shop. We always love to check out a good gift shop. Liberty’s had a small gift shop packed full of interesting toys, games and other items. They had gifts for all price points, and for everyone. You could easily find a gift for your school friends, or your granny.
All in all, we had a fantastic day at Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre and would definitely recommend a visit.
You can visit Liberty’s Centre daily between March and November, with opening days on weekends and in half term from November to February.
