Silent Hill: Townfall is available today, 24 September 2026, and it takes Konami’s horror series in a very different direction.
Scottish studio Screen Burn Interactive developed the game, while Konami and Annapurna Interactive co-published it. Players can now find Townfall on PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Silent Hill goes first-person
First, Townfall makes a major change to how you experience Silent Hill.
Konami describes it as the first psychological horror game in the series played entirely in first person. As a result, players get much closer to the environments, objects and threats around them.
The new viewpoint should also make exploration feel more personal. Instead of watching the character from a distance, you experience St. Amelia directly through Simon’s eyes.
Welcome to St. Amelia
Meanwhile, Townfall leaves the familiar setting of Silent Hill behind.
The story follows Simon Ordell, an outsider who becomes stranded at the frozen marina of St. Amelia. Therefore, the game immediately feels different from previous entries set around the American town most closely linked with the series.
Screen Burn focuses heavily on isolation and environmental storytelling. The game also creates the feeling that you have arrived somewhere with a disturbing history you don’t yet understand.
Additionally, the Scottish studio has given the coastal setting its own distinct atmosphere. This helps Townfall build its own identity while still keeping the unsettling feeling Silent Hill fans expect.
The CRTV is more than a prop
Townfall also introduces an unusual CRTV device.
Players use the device to tune into weak signals while solving puzzles and exploring the world. However, it isn’t simply another object to inspect.
On PS5, Screen Burn uses motion controls, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback during these interactions. As a result, tuning and using the device should feel more physical and immersive.
A busy period for Silent Hill
Townfall also continues a major run of new Silent Hill games.
Silent Hill 2 arrived in 2024, followed by Silent Hill f in 2025. Now, Townfall makes 2026 the third consecutive year with a major Silent Hill release.
However, Screen Burn hasn’t simply copied those games. Instead, Townfall introduces a new protagonist, a new location and a completely different first-person structure.
Therefore, even players who have followed every recent Silent Hill release should find something new here.
Where can you play it?
Finally, Silent Hill: Townfall is available now on PS5 and PC.
PC players can buy the game through Steam or the Epic Games Store. However, Konami has not announced an Xbox version at this time.
