Did your children spend hours playing in the sand this summer? Perhaps they worked out the perfect mixture of sand and water to create the best sandcastles or saw someone else’s and got inspired. After seeing some amazing sand sculptures, we looked around online for more and discovered the incredible Sandworld gallery in Weymouth and just had to pay a visit.

Opened in 2011 by ‘Sandman’ Mark Anderson and David Hicks and situated in the grounds of Lodmoor Country Park, the theme for 2022 is ‘Around the World’ and the scenes created by the artists are just mind blowing. From natural landscapes, moments from history and fun fantasy characters there will be something for everyone to be inspired and delighted by.

Sandworld isn’t just a place to walk round, there is a fun quiz to do and plenty of information provided all the way round and of course a chance to try your own hand at making some sand art in the giant all weather sand pits for all ages.

With ever changing exhibits this is one attraction you’ll want to visit time and time again. Check out the website for information on workshops and to find the latest details on times and prices. This was an inspiring art trip with a difference for our family that will transform our days out to the beach forever!
