Rhythm action game
5 min read
This is a preview based on official information, not a Kidspeak hands-on test.
Ratatan mixes rhythm commands with side-scrolling action. Nintendo UK lists it for 14 October 2026 with a PEGI 7 rating.
The big hook is that players give orders in time with the music while more than 100 characters can appear in the action. It is colourful, busy and designed around learning patterns rather than simply pressing attack repeatedly.
Online co-op supports up to four players. Nintendo Switch Online is required for online play, so factor that into the cost if multiplayer is the reason you are buying it.
We have not tested the difficulty curve, readability on a handheld screen or how forgiving the rhythm timing feels for younger players. Those points matter, so our final verdict should wait for hands-on play.
The announced concept has an obvious hook for its intended family audience.
Official sources give parents enough detail to make an informed shortlist.
The main features and limitations are straightforward to explain before purchase.
This preview flags what still needs hands-on confirmation after release.
