What Rockstar has actually confirmed
GTA 6 returns to Vice City and expands into the fictional state of Leonida. Rockstar’s official material highlights Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.
That tells us the game covers cities, islands, wetlands, industrial areas and mountainous wilderness.
What Rockstar has not confirmed
Rockstar has not given us an official total map area in square miles or square kilometres.
That means headlines claiming an exact map size should be treated as estimates unless they clearly explain how the number was calculated.
How fans build maps before a game launches
Dedicated communities study trailers and screenshots. They compare road signs, skylines, landmarks, camera angles and distances, then try to place them on a shared map.
It is clever detective work, but it remains reconstruction rather than an official Rockstar map.
Why size is not everything anyway
A giant empty map can feel smaller than a dense city full of things to investigate. Rockstar is already showing activities, interiors, shops, waterways, wildlife and several very different environments.
For families trying to understand the hype, variety may be a better measure than raw square mileage.
Our rule for GTA 6 map claims
If Rockstar confirms it, we will call it confirmed. If players measure it after release, we will explain the method. If somebody on social media says the map is exactly a certain size with no evidence, we are keeping the calculator in the drawer.
