Vice City and Miami
Vice City is Rockstar’s fictional neon-soaked coastal city. Its beaches, towers, nightlife and tropical setting make the Miami inspiration easy to recognise.
That does not mean every GTA building has a direct real-world twin. Rockstar mixes and exaggerates locations to create its own city.
The Leonida Keys and the Florida Keys
Rockstar’s Leonida Keys bring islands, bridges, boats and turquoise water into the game. The name and setting clearly echo the real Florida Keys.
Again, think inspiration rather than a one-to-one digital map.
Grassrivers and the Everglades
Grassrivers is Rockstar’s wetland region. The real Everglades can be explored by airboat, kayak, canoe, hiking trail and guided boat.
The real ecosystem is also home to alligators and hundreds of bird species, which helps explain why wildlife appears so heavily in GTA 6’s Florida-inspired imagery.
Mount Kalaga changes the landscape
Rockstar has also introduced Mount Kalaga National Park, giving Leonida forests, trails and higher ground beyond the flat tropical imagery people normally associate with Vice City.
It is another reminder that Leonida is a fictional remix rather than a geography lesson.
A surprisingly useful geography conversation
For children fascinated by GTA 6 clips, comparing Leonida with real Florida turns game hype into something educational.
Ask them to identify which details look inspired by cities, islands, wetlands or wildlife. Just make sure nobody comes away believing Vice City is a real place they can book on a package holiday.
