CONTROL Resonant launches today, 24 September 2026, bringing Remedy Entertainment’s strange supernatural universe back with a much bigger playground.
The sequel is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, with GeForce NOW support too. Remedy describes it as its most expansive game to date.
Dylan Faden is the new lead
Jesse Faden was the protagonist of the original Control, but Resonant puts her brother Dylan in the starring role. Years after his confinement by the Federal Bureau of Control, Dylan emerges into a Manhattan being transformed by a paranatural crisis. Jesse is missing and a mysterious cosmic force is reshaping reality.
Control has escaped into Manhattan
The first game made the impossible architecture of the Oldest House one of its defining features. Resonant expands that idea into New York, with Manhattan itself becoming distorted by supernatural forces.
That gives Remedy room to make the sequel feel larger without abandoning the surreal visual style that made Control so distinctive. Streets, buildings and everyday spaces can now become part of the weirdness.
Combat has changed too
CONTROL Resonant moves further towards action-RPG territory and puts more emphasis on close-range combat alongside supernatural abilities. Dylan’s powers are central to the experience, giving players different ways to approach enemies as the crisis becomes increasingly bizarre.
Why everyone is watching this one
September 2026 is packed with major releases, and Resonant arrives on the same day as Silent Hill: Townfall. Remedy nevertheless stuck to its chosen date, saying quality was more important than trying to dodge a crowded release window.
The original Control built a huge following through its mixture of third-person action, paranormal storytelling and deeply strange world-building. Resonant now has the difficult job of expanding that formula without losing the mystery that made the first game work.
Where can you play it?
CONTROL Resonant is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Remedy says a Mac version will follow later in 2026.
