You only need a few words to understand most GTA 6 conversations

Rockstar has now confirmed the core characters, locations and release details. Learning the basic vocabulary makes it much easier to understand what children are talking about without becoming a GTA expert.

GTA 6

Grand Theft Auto VI, the next main game in Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series. It launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Leonida

The fictional US state where GTA 6 takes place. Think Rockstar’s exaggerated, fictionalised Sunshine State rather than the real Florida.

Vice City

The major fictional city inside Leonida. Vice City has appeared in earlier GTA games and takes obvious inspiration from Miami.

Jason and Lucia

Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos are GTA 6’s central pair. Rockstar says they become caught in a criminal conspiracy after an easy score goes wrong.

NPC

Non-player character. Basically, one of the people in the game world who is controlled by the game rather than the person holding the controller.

Open world

A game structure that allows players to explore a large environment rather than moving only through fixed levels. This freedom is a major reason GTA appeals to players.

Wanted level

The system GTA uses to show how much law-enforcement attention a player has attracted. Rockstar’s new footage has shown the wanted system in action, although not every final rule has been explained.

GTA Online

Be careful with this one. GTA Online is the long-running online part of GTA V. Rockstar currently describes GTA VI’s November release as a single-player experience, so parents should not assume every GTA Online feature automatically applies to GTA VI.

PEGI 18 provisional

The UK Xbox listing currently displays a provisional PEGI 18 label. ‘Provisional’ matters because the final classification process is not the same thing as a finished rating printed on a released game.
