Things Kids Will Want to Do in GTA 6 That Have Absolutely Nothing to Do With Crime

GTA 6 is built around an adult crime story, but Rockstar has also shown basketball, kayaking, scuba diving, gym workouts, racing and parachuting. Those quieter activities help explain why younger gamers may find the world so tempting.

The harmless-looking bits are a big part of the appeal

Rockstar’s August 2026 footage shows several playable leisure activities. They do not make GTA 6 a children’s game, but understanding them helps parents see what children may actually be excited about.

GTA 6 is not only gunfights and getaway cars

Grand Theft Auto VI follows Jason and Lucia through a criminal conspiracy across Leonida, so crime remains central to the game. However, Rockstar’s extended August footage also spends a surprising amount of time showing what players can do when nobody is robbing anything.

That matters for parents. A child asking for GTA 6 may genuinely be more interested in its enormous virtual world than its adult storyline.

You can shoot hoops instead of causing chaos

Rockstar’s footage shows Jason on an outdoor basketball court with on-screen controls for aiming and shooting. That is strong evidence that basketball is an interactive activity rather than background decoration.

For children who love sports games, a clip like that can make GTA 6 look much more innocent than the complete game actually is.

There is a lot to do on the water

Leonida is packed with coastline, wetlands and waterways. Rockstar has shown kayaking, swimming, jet skis, airboats and scuba diving, including underwater exploration.

The Ultimate Edition information even names a Crest Kayak as one of Jason’s available vehicles. Water activities therefore look like a significant part of exploring the state.

Players can work out, race and jump from very high places

Lucia is shown using a bench press with controller prompts. Rockstar has also shown circuit racing, dirt-bike racing and a BASE jump with a parachute.

These are exactly the kinds of short clips that will spread online because they are easy to understand without knowing anything about GTA’s story.

Why this is useful for parents

If your child asks for GTA 6, ask which part they actually want. If the answer is racing, diving, basketball or exploring, you have something specific to work with.

You can acknowledge that those parts look brilliant while still explaining that they sit inside a game currently carrying a provisional PEGI 18 label on the UK Xbox store.
