Who Is Dide?

Dide Music Video

Since he surfaced on Instagram in January this year, the identity of Dide has been hotly debated and with the release of a video for his debut track ‘Thrill’, everyone is wondering how long it will be before someone lets the truth leak.

clues so far

Some think the name Dide is an anagram for Eddi, which makes people wonder if it is Eddie Nketiah.

The Arsenal striker’s trademark celebration was included in the Thrill video, and lyrics such as ‘they’re gunner put it in the paper’ could be interpreted to be Arsenal references.

The recent video was filmed in London and there were references to the ‘Big Smoke’ which might mean he is either from London or plays for a London team, which has got some people believing it is former Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha or Chelsea player Noni Madueke.

Who he isn't

Other Premier League players have ruled themselves out of the speculation, with Michail Antonio and Callum Wilson both saying Dide is not them on their Footballer’s Football podcast.

An Adidas ball was spotted in the music video leading fans to think Dide must be sponsored by the brand.

His website claims he wants to keep his ‘Premier League football life separate from his evocative music by donning a rose-adorned disguise’.

Meteoric Rise

But is it all just speculation and could this actually be the brilliant publicity stunt of a rapping football fan? No one can say but with the views on YouTube at over 800,000 and climbing, I’m sure there will be plenty more music before Dide is unveiled.
